UTMB World Series

UTMB World Series is the world’s ultimate trail running circuit that unites the sport’s biggest stars and amateur runners through the best, leading international events in the most stunning locations.

Experience the UTMB adventure across the world

Built on a passion for the mountains with sustainability at its heart, UTMB World Series gives all trail runners the chance to experience the UTMB adventure across the world.

It is the only place where runners can begin their quest to UTMB Mont-Blanc and the UTMB World Series Finals.

The UTMB World Series integrates different levels of events.

The UTMB World Series Finals will be held in the three key distances of the UTMB Mont-Blanc – known as the OCC (50k), CCC (100k) and UTMB (100M). To qualify for a place at the Finals, trail runners must compete in at least one of the UTMB World Series Events or UTMB World Series Majors, where they can collect Running Stones for use in the lottery, or be rewarded for their performance with direct access.

The UTMB World Series men’s and women’s titles will be awarded at these three races.

Three UTMB World Series Majors are held each year, and these pinnacle events across the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region award double the amount of Running Stones to all finishers that can be used in the UTMB World Series Finals lottery.

In total 225 runners are also granted automatic qualification for the UTMB World Series Finals through each Major. This includes age-group category winners and the top 10 male and female runners in the 100M, 100K and 50K categories who gain automatic qualification to the respective UTMB (100M), CCC (100K) and OCC (50K) races at UTMB Mont-Blanc.

UTMB World Series Events are the best trail running events on the planet and are organized to the highest quality standards, giving runners the chance to immerse themselves in the UTMB experience on all continents. The top 3 elite runners gain automatic entry to the UTMB World Series Finals and all finishers collect Running Stones that allow them to become eligible for the UTMB Mont-Blanc on race courses that blend the best that the country has to offer.

In 2023, the UTMB World Series is going to be even bigger, welcoming more runners across the globe to join the UTMB adventure. New events in the USA, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia have all now been confirmed as the Series continues its promise to share the best racing experience with as many runners as possible, delivering unique events in extraordinary destinations.

Finishing a UTMB Index race will contribute towards your UTMB Index. However, it will not provide Running Stones which are mandatory to enter the UTMB Mont-Blanc lottery for the World Series Finals.

Your UTMB Index also allows you priority access for registration at UTMB World Series Majors and Events and is sometimes required as a security measure by Race Organizers, in order to ensure that you have the experience necessary to complete an ultra-distance.
